Changing Perspectives in Urbanism
The Council for Canadian Urbanism is thrilled to invite you to our annual forum held this year in Halifax, Nova Scotia! The city provides a vibrant backdrop for innovative discussions amongst urbanists, experts, and urban enthusiasts from across Canada. The provincial capital, known for its rich maritime history and vibrant cultural scene, will serve as a living case study, inspiring attendees with its unique approach to urbanism.
This year’s forum presents an exploration into the theme of "Divergence" - Changing Perspectives in Urbanism. Divergence in urbanism highlights the conflicting forces shaping our cities, pulling them in different directions. As cities grow and evolve, urban design has to adopt innovative approaches to face the cities’ diverging forces. Within the context of unprecedented shifts in demographics, technology, and climate, the CanU 2024 Forum focuses on how conflicting aspects of urbanism can potentially be brought together through urban design to chart the course for more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable urban futures.
Attendees can expect a rich slate of presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions curated to dive into the complexities of urban divergence, provoke critical thinking, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspire actionable solutions. Please join us from October 24 to 26th, 2024 in Halifax as we navigate the divergent pathways of urbanism towards thriving, equitable, and resilient cities for all.
