
Mark Nelson
Associate Principal, Canada Leader – Climate and Sustainability Services, ARUP
Mark leads Arup’s sustainability practice in Canada operating across all market sectors. An engineer by training, he has developed sustainable and resilient solutions for projects at the building, masterplan and portfolio scale, for private and public clients around the globe. His vision of sustainability goes beyond certifications to look at ways we can make projects better for users and the planet across all aspects including the urban realm, energy systems, circular economy and policy and standards. Mark has a particular interest in adapting the built environment to the effects of climate change. He currently chairs the USGBC Resilience Working Group tasked with integrating resilient design principles into LEED v5, and is a member of the CSA committee developing a standard for rail resilience in Canada.
