Louis-Michel Fournier, cofounder of Atelier Urbain in 2007, is as passionate and involved as ever in the urban planning profession. A senior planner committed to sustainable community development, Louis-Michel has been a volunteer on the Comité de développement durable de l’Ordre des urbanistes since 2012. In addition, he is actively involved in promoting the next generation of planners. He is the instigator of La Relève en urbanisme (RU), which became an official committee of the Ordre des Urbanistes du Québec in 2014. A recipient of several awards for excellence in urban planning, Louis-Michel is an acknowledged authority in this field. Working primarily with cities and municipalities across Québec, he possesses the rare talent of leading his clients forward in territorial planning and development. His work has been instrumental in transforming major cities such as Montréal and Québec City. He has been a project director since Atelier Urbain was founded, and has completed over 200 urban planning projects. Having worked for over 75 cities and municipalities, Louis-Michel has developed strategies, plans, regulations and studies in a variety of contexts. He is also a trainer and lecturer in sustainable urban planning and integrated design.
